VAPI: Value-added performance indicator in Further Education
Overview
A research project
funded by SFEFC |
Background |
The Scottish Further Education Funding Council
has commissioned the Centre for Educational Sociology to carry out
a small study on the viability of a value-added performance indicator
(PI) in Scottish FE. Such an indicator would measure the difference
made by a college to the educational attainment of students. The Centre
is collecting views and evidence from the college sector through a
letter to all Principals, visits to selected colleges and representatives
of the sector, and informal (phone and email) consultation with staff
in a range of colleges. It is reviewing relevant literature on the
experience of value-added approaches and the determinants of educational
attainment in FE or similar contexts, including literature from other
parts of the UK and overseas. |
