KTHE: Knowledge Transfer in HE in Scotland
Overview
A Research Project
funded by the Economic and Social Research Council |
Background |
Knowledge Transfer is an increasingly important
part of the activity of universities, supported by specific funding,
which, in Scotland, is intended to promote transfer to communities
and for civic and social purposes, as well as commercialisation. Research
to date has focussed on commercialisation and technology transfer,
and it is important to establish whether there are barriers to and
enablers of civic and social KT, and whether these are institutional
or discipline based. |
The research
will |
(i) map the range and type of knowledge transfer
activity in HEIs in Scotland; (ii) map the range and type of institutional arrangements in HEIs to support KT; (iii) construct a typology of such activity and (iv) explore the attitudes to and knowledge about KT of University staff in the areas of Health and Education. |
